The Groff/Miller Remodel
On this project, we partnered with Red Door Design to bring this historic kitchen into the modern era. We removed a wall and a low hanging beam in the existing space. We installed 2 steel beams up in the ceiling where they are hidden but can carry the load of the floor above. The original dining room had quarter-sawn white oak wainscot paneling and crown molding. We were able to save and reconfigure that to blend in with the new room shape and cabinet layout. Also we matched the original white oak hardwood flooring with new for a look that feels like it was always this way. The result is a much more spacious kitchen that honors the historic nature of the home.
